MEETERIC

Elected in November 2011, Eric is the Commonwealth's Attorney for Stafford County and has prosecuted crime in Stafford since 1989.

 

A Stafford native - Eric was raised in Stafford County. From Ferry Farm Elementary to UMW, Eric has lived in the local area for his entire life. He and his wife of 25 years, Tina, live in south Stafford. Eric is a proud father of 3 and adoring grandfather of 3 grandchildren.

 

As a long-time faculty member for Virginia prosecutors’ professional training programs, Eric has taught over 1,000 Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement officers about legal and constitutional issues over the past 15 years. He has also taught prosecutors around the country for the NDAA as the first assistant prosecutor ever elected to its Board of Directors.

In 2008, Mr. Olsen was selected as Virginia’s prosecutor of the year by his fellow prosecutors across the state.

In the Courtroom

When it comes to protecting the community and fighting for victims, Eric Olsen has been a leader in Virginia for over three decades. As a director of the NDAA, Eric is a voice on the national level for victim's rights and effective prosecution.

 

Eric understands that part of effective prosecution means addressing the underlying cause of crimes. As part of that, Stafford has embraced programs such as drug court, mental health treatment, and veterans court.

In the Community

As a Fredericksburg native, Eric grew up in the local area. He received his undergraduate degree from UMW, and began prosecuting in Stafford County in 1989. 

Since that time, Eric has led the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office through significant growth - implementing changes that reflect our community values. A proponent of "community prosecution," Eric knows that in order to represent Stafford County effectively, prosecutors first have to understand their community.

Fighting for Victims

A recipient of the Von Schuch Award for most outstanding Virginia prosecutor, Eric has a proven record of victim advocacy.

 

A long-time prosecutor of domestic violence, Eric knows the importance of preventing violence in the home. He understands the ripple effect and the impact on children. That's why Eric earned the CPS award for outstanding service to abused and neglected children and has been a leader in protecting minors

A victim-centric prosecutor, Eric continues to implement policies with victims in mind.
